Vision and Mission

It is my personal vision to bring realistic, practical and readily applicable combative martial arts to the good men and women of this world… to you.

To help them stand against the darkness, the bullies, the terrorists, the kidnappers, the rapists, the evil people who would steal your liberty, safety and peace of mind.

It is my personal experience that through the practice of purposeful violence via combative martial arts, you can learn to develop a sense of security, confidence and boldness to live your life as a free man or woman and at the same time become a more peaceful person.

[blockquote style=”boxed” cite=”Paul Vunak”]”The enigma of martial arts is that by practicing violence, you can become a more peaceful person.”[/blockquote]

Knowing that you can elicit extreme violence if necessary, to stop, hurt or even kill an aggressor, gives you a certain calmness of mind.

About Brian

Brian Copeland has been teaching martial arts, self-defense, Jeet Kune Do, kettlebell training, and has been a personal trainer and performance coach in the Aurora / Denver Colorado area since 2006 and has a wide body of experience and education in nutrition, motivation, pain relief, athletics and combatives.

He suffered from severe and at times, debilitating lower back pain for roughly a decade due to 2 severe herniated discs, or at least that is the reason the docs gave. Thankfully Brian was introduced to a performance system named “Z-Health” and is now completely pain-free. Z-Health is now a regular part of his training and is used with his regular clients as well.

Background

Brian with Paul Vunak

Paul and Brian training in Mission Viejo, CA 2008

Brian is a Progressive Fighting Systems Certified Instructor trained by the legendary Paul Vunak and teaches the same systems that Paul Vunak has taught to countless military and law enforcement agencies including the famous Navy SEAL Team Six, Rapid Assault Tactics, and his Law Enforcement program Force Continuum as well as Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do.

Brian’s background includes training in Mixed Martial Arts, western boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jujitsu, Jun Fan kickboxing (original Jeet Kune Do), Jeet Kune Do concepts, full-contact Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Sambo, Krav Maga and combative firearms, just to name a few.

In all Brian has over 2 decades of Martial Arts experience. He has trained with ranked professional boxers, Muay Thai champions, Olympic Tae Kwon Do medalists, members of the Olympic Judo team, Gracie Jujitsu black belts and trainers to special operations units in the US military.

Brian is also a Z-Health Level 4 Performance Coach, Russian Kettlebell Certified Instructor, Sports Movement Specialist, Vision and Vestibular Integration Specialist, Exercise Therapy Specialist, and a competitive athlete in indoor soccer.

He teaches specialized drills to forge fighter’s bodies, to toughen joints and connective tissues, to make fighters more supple and resilient.

Brian is a published author and has been interviewed and appeared in a number of media outlets such as Channel 2 News, Ski Magazine, The Everyday Show on FOX 31 amongst others.

He also appears as a contributing author in the book The RKC Book of Strength and Conditioning published by Dragon Door Publications.

Brian has written and published the book Seriously Strong Hands and has torn 90 poker cards in half with his bare hands.

Brian’s Students

The majority of Brian’s students are everyday men and women who are concerned about their ability to defend themselves; Doctors, international travelers concerned with their safety overseas, women who want to know how to defend themselves against a male assailant and of course men and women dedicated to becoming warriors.

Brian also trains security personnel, bail bondsmen, International Operatives, Law Enforcement and Corrections Officers, and has worked with the blind. Currently Brian teaches workshops for Pilots and Flight Attendants of an international airline. Topics include flight deck defense, dealing with problem passengers, FFDO concepts, personal protection and kidnap prevention during international travel. His courses have received rave reviews!

Brian is always studying other systems, looking for anything useful that can be added without taking away from realistic combat.

Combative Handgun Training

Brian training with Aurora Police Dept. trainers on various shooting drills and scenarios.

Kettlebell | Jeet Kune Do

Brian is also the owner of Copeland’s Core Fitness, a Kettlebell and Z-Health fitness training studio in Aurora, CO. In addition to Martial Arts and Self-Defense, Brian is also an RKC Certified Kettlebell Instructor through Pavel Tsatsouline, a Z-Health Level 4 Exercise Therapy Specialist and fitness and combatives author. Brian offers private and group training classes in kettlebell training, see more at his kettlebell training site.

[blockquote style=”boxed” cite=”President John F. Kennedy”]“Throughout our history we have been challenged to armed conflict by nations which sought to destroy our independence or threatened our freedom. The young men of America have risen to those occasions, giving themselves freely to the rigors and hardships of warfare. But the stamina and strength which the defense of liberty requires are not the product of a few weeks’ basic training or a month’s conditioning. These only come from bodies which have been conditioned by a lifetime of participation in sports and interest in physical activity. Our struggles against aggressors throughout our history have been won on the playgrounds and corner lots and fields of America. Thus, in a very real and immediate sense, our growing softness, our increasing lack of physical fitness, is a menace to our security…”[/blockquote]
